Presentation: The Locomotives that Dad & Grandpa Built from Erie, PA presented by Raymond E. Grabowski, Jr. from The Lake Shore Railway Historical Society Looking at Erie, PA, as a manufacturing hot-spot, supporting the growth of the transportation industry. Exploring the history of locomotive development based out of Erie, including some steam locomotive production by Heisler Locomotive Works in Erie and Climax Locomotive Works from near-by Corry, PA, through electric and diesel electric locomotive development and production at General Electric Transportation, now Wabtec, in Lawrence Park, PA, a suburb of Erie. ============= Raymond serves as Treasurer of the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society, operating an educational museum in North East, PA. His involvement began in childhood, and he has held leadership roles including board vice president and a decade-long presidency, during which he developed the collection theme, "The locomotives that dad and grandpa built," honoring the society’s founders and workers at Erie's GE locomotive plant. He is also vice president on the boards of the Tri State Rail Federal Credit Union and the Oil Creek Railway Historical Society, which oversees the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad. As an educator for over 25 years, Raymond teaches 8th grade science, known for his lively hands-on experiments like color-changing potions, explosive reactions, and paper airplane designs, making learning fun and engaging for his students.
